Last week the Clay County Sheriff’s office allowed deputies in uniform to use the Sheriff cars while they were being paid by a private entity. That private business was Summit Carbon Solutions and we had already refused their request to survey our land. Do our off-duty law enforcement officers have the right to use the county’s assets to intimidate us, as private citizens, on our own land?
I am sure they will reference Iowa Code §479B.15 where the Iowa Legislature has “given” companies like Summit to enter our private land for surveying. The reason this pipeline is being proposed has two reasons. One reason is to supposedly hinder Climate Change by taking carbon from ethanol, piping it to North Dakota to dump it in underground formations. Climate Change is a lie. The second reason is that the US government (using our tax money) is going to pick up the tab through 45Q: The Carbon Capture Tax Credit. The man surveying our land told my husband that that was not true, that it was being paid for by private investors. Why in the world would anyone “invest” in spending $Billions to put carbon in the ground? There is no money to be made in that. What these investors are doing is investing in the power of the government to take your money by force and give it to them. Look at those supporting this pipeline. I am going to go out on a limb and say they are “invested” in it.
That is tyranny and we object. Our Sheriff has the highest authority in our county. Their job is to protect our rights, not to blindly support tyrannical government policies. I would suggest that our Sheriff’s department decide who it is that they serve as our “government” takes more and more of our rights guaranteed to us by the US Constitution.
