Presumed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is seeking to eliminate “gendered terms” like “father” and “daughter” from the Rules Package for Congress.
Pelosi, along with Rep. James McGovern of Massachusetts, announced the changes in an effort to “honor all gender identities” by modifying pronouns and familial relations references in the rules.
Gender-inclusive changes begin on Page 5.
“Seamen” becomes “seafarers.”
“Chairman” becomes “Chair.”
Get ready…
Father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, husband, wife, father-in-law — the list continues from there…
These terms and more would be changed to parent, child, sibling, parent’s sibling, first cousin, sibling’s child, spouse, parent-in-law, child-in-law, sibling-in-law, stepparent, stepchild, stepsibling, half-sibling or grandchild.
Even phrases like “submit his or her resignation” will be changed to simply “resign.”
“He or she serves” will become “such Member, Delegate or Resident Commissioner serves.”
Remember, it was only a few years ago that Republicans were “waging a war on women.”
But, now that gender is essentially meaningless, never settled for anyone and there are an unknown number of them to pick from, wasn’t the phrase “war on women” insensitive to the other 71 genders?
Actually. Now that I think about it…considering the impact of this war on biology, gender and science, the fact the Democrats are willing to allow biological males to compete in female athletics, earn female scholarships and use female facilities if they claim to be — isn’t that an actual war on women?
