This is a person at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics working in the Department of Psychiatry called Kevo Rivera. Rivera is a resident physician and was featured in a “Pride Month” profile by the university. He is an employee and physician-in-training.
And he works with children and adolescents as a psychiatry fellow.
Rivera credits rainbow stickers on name badges, appointing queer faculty to leadership positions and asking about pronouns as things that make him feel welcomed.
“I’m grateful to everyone who’s started to incorporate these practices into their work,” he said. “Oh, and if you ever see me in the halls and want to stop me to compliment me on my nail polish, that always helps, too!”
He accepts all pronouns and is also an appointed member of the Iowa City Ad Hoc Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
“Kevo identifies as a queer, agender, Filipinx-American child of once-undocumented immigrants and as a first-generation physician,” according to his bio.
Dear God! And I am not taking Hid’d name in vain.
No thank you!
