Two years ago an unarmed Air Force veteran was shot and killed inside the U.S. Capitol by a police officer who had previously been in trouble for leaving his firearm unattended in a Capitol bathroom. In fact, when that incident happened, Lt. Mike Byrd told fellow officers he would “be treated differently” because of his rank as a lieutenant for that incident, according to Roll Call.
But two years ago to this day, Byrd shot and killed Ashli Babbitt inside the Capitol. There has been no justice for Babbitt’s family. The Department of Justice closed the “investigation” into Babbitt’s killing finding “no evidence” Byrd violated the law. Few elected leaders even contacted Ashli’s husband, Aaron.
When Rudy Giuliani asked the Jan. 6 Committee if they’d be looking into Babbitt’s death, the members blankly started at him and then looked down.
Aaron Babbitt told Tucker Carlson he wasn’t surprised.
“I knew they weren’t going to be talking about Ashli at this thing,” Aaron said. “I truly believe in my heart that they know it’s murder. So, if they can’t admit to it, so they have to just bypass it and blow by it and just act like it never happened.”
But it did happen. And it should not be forgotten.
We sent an email to the offices of Sen. Chuck Grassley, Sen. Joni Ernst, Rep. Randy Feenstra, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Rep. Ashley Hinson asking a few questions in late 2021. We’ve never received a response. Here were the questions:
The whole J6 event is disgusting, especially the murder of Ashli Babbitt. Since the cop was black and Ashli was a Patriot, he gets a pass. This government is afraid of us because they are corrupt and we know it. Don’t forget Patriots went to DC because they/we don’t trust the government and did NOT believe the election outcome. I don’t care where Ashli Babbitt is from, she is a Patriot and a Hero. She did NOT deserve to be murdered and our Iowa delegation, which includes two female veterans, has done nothing for justice for her.
