More than 40 percent of Americans rated the performance of the United States Postal Service as fair or poor, with many calling it worse during the holidays than in previous years.

According to a Rasmussen Reports phone and online survey, 36 percent of American adults said the performance was worse this past holiday season than in years past. Eighteen percent say it was better while 42 percent say it was about the same.

Approval of the USPS has declined since January 2015. Back then, 69 percent said it was good or excellent. Today, 54 percent rate the performance as good or excellent. In 2015, only 30 percent rated the performance fair or poor. Today, 42 percent say it is fair or poor.
