The Washington Examiner reported that House Republicans held a summit last weekend in Salt Lake City, Utah to talk about positioning themselves to address climate change in the new Congress.
Representative John Curtis of Utah reportedly organized the summit, which was attended by 25 House Republicans.
Among the group, according to the Washington Examiner, Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks.
“The meeting is the latest in efforts by congressional Republicans to overhaul their party’s climate change platform and messaging to compete with Democrats and the Biden administration,” the Washington Examiner said. “House Republicans are also responding to polls over the last few years that have shown the party is vulnerable among young and suburban voters concerned about the environment and climate change.”
Former Rep. Carlos Curbelo, described as a “centrist Republican who previously introduced carbon tax legislation, moderated a panel.
