Waukee superintendent asks public school employees to use their personal email addresses rather than school email accounts when contacting legislators

The superintendent of one of Iowa’s largest school districts took to Twitter on Thursday in an effort to get public school educators to stop using their school email accounts and rather use personal accounts.

“Hearing informal feedback through lobbyist that some legislators are frustrated with emails from school email accounts regarding SF159,” wrote Waukee superintendent Brad Buck. “Let’s commit to: 1. personal accounts & 2. texting 5 < people we know asking them to write in support of public schools.”

Senate File 159 passed through the Iowa Senate on Thursday afternoon, 26-21. Three Republicans voted against it (Senators Dawn Driscoll, Annette Sweeney and Tom Shipley).

While public school educators and Demcorats are attempting to paint the bill as a voucher bill, that simply is not the case.
