Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic Chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio) will hold a hearing titled “A Hearing with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Senior Scientific Advisor, Dr. David Morens.” This hearing will examine overwhelming evidence that shows Dr. David Morens — a former top advisor to Dr. Anthony Fauci at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) — deliberately obstructed the Select Subcommittee’s investigation into the origins of COVID-19 to protect Dr. Fauci. There is also significant evidence Dr. Morens used his personal email(s) to subvert federal record-keeping laws. In new emails uncovered by the Select Subcommittee, Dr. Morens appears to actively undermine the operations of the U.S. government by sharing internal NIAID and National Institutes of Health (NIH) information with his “best friend,” EcoHealth Alliance President Dr. Peter Daszak. As a result of this concerning behavior and his previous efforts to impede the Select Subcommittee’s investigation, Dr. Morens is appearing next week after a subpoena for his testimony was announced.

“Dr. Morens’s intentional efforts to evade federal record keeping laws and undermine the operations of the U.S. government are reprehensible, potentially unlawful, and pose a serious threat to the long-term integrity of our public health institutions. While Dr. Morens was advising Dr. Fauci on pandemic-era policies from the highest-levels of power at the NIH, he was simultaneously undercutting the safety of Americans by sharing internal information with his soon to be debarred ‘best-friend,’ EcoHealth Alliance President Dr. Peter Daszak. The egregious nature of these actions cannot be overstated. In the span of less than one month, the Select Subcommittee was forced to announce two subpoenas for both documents and testimony from Dr. Morens. Dr. Fauci’s former senior scientific advisor must be held accountable for his flagrant abuse of power and blatant disregard for the law. We are working to ensure that federal health officials are never again unaccountable to the American people and willfully undermine our elected government,” said Chairman Wenstrup.
