Only four — FOUR — organizations registered against Senate File 427 in 2007 when the Iowa legislature added sexual orientation and gender identity to the Civil Rights Code. Just four.
Ironically, two of them are business organizations. The Iowa Association of Business and Industry registered against the bill, as did the National Federation of Independent Business. The other two organizations were the Iowa Association of Christian Schools and the Iowa Family Policy Center Action.
That’s it. Those were the four organizations lobbying against Senate File 427 in 2007. A bill that has now led to biological female minors being able to swim topless in Iowa.
