United States Sen. Chuck Grassley complimented the work ethic of Koreans during a hearing on Wednesday regarding Lucy Koh, a Korean American judicial nominee.

Koh had told a story about her mom’s escape from North Korea. She talked about witnessing poverty while growing up in Mississippi in the 1970s. Koh was born in Washington D.C.

Grassley, who has a daughter-in-law who is also a Korean-American, simply paid Koh — and the Korean community — a compliment.

“What you said about your Korean background reminds me a lot of what my daughter-in-law of 45 years has said,” Grassley said. “‘If I learned anything from Korean people it’s the hard work ethic and how you can make a lot out of nothing. So I congratulate you and your people.”

I guess we’re all supposed to gasp in disgust over someone paying a compliment to someone else about their heritage?

Democrat Rep. Judy Chu called Grassley’s compliment inappropriate and harmful.

Seriously.

“Even if you think you’re being complimentary, assigning any character trait to an entire community is the definition of prejudice,” Chu said according to the HuffPost. “Treating all members of a group as the same invites mistreatment when one person can be held accountable for the actions of someone else. It may not be the same incitement to violence seen in other slurs, but it is harmful nonetheless.”

Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

If we’re reading this correctly, it is now an insult to offer a compliment to any group of people.

Saying good things about a group of people is now just as bad as saying bad things about a group of people.

I would like to expound on this, but in this instance, I’m actually rendered relatively speechless by the ignorance on display from the Left.

I am impressed at the Left’s ability to be offended by anything and everything. Even compliments.
