Congresswoman Ashley Hinson said on Friday she was proud to nominate Congresswoman Elise Stefanik to be the GOP’s next Conference Chair.
“She’s the right person to unify our conference and show the American people the stark contrast between Speaker Pelosi & President Biden’s big-government agenda and the Republican vision of freedom and opportunity,” Hinson wrote.
Bob Vander Plaats, president and CEO of The FAMiLY Leader, expressed opposition to Stefanik.
“Conservative leaders cannot sit idly by and watch Elise Stefanik, who voted for the inequality act and Obamacare that tried to make nuns pay for abortions, elevated to GOP leadership,” Vander Plaats said. “This is about our principles/integrity and 2022, 2024.”
Stefanik received the nod over Congressman Chip Roy, who along with other conservatives in the House expressed concern with Stefanik’s less-than-stellar voting record.
Stefanik voted against President Donald J. Trump’s 2017 tax cuts. She also voted for the Equality Act.
“Every pro-family, conservative organization I respect is coming out against Elise Stefanik,” Vander Plaats said. “Here’s a quote from Family Research Council action, ‘Elise Stefanik is not a serious conservative and has no place in Republican leadership.’ This is Trump’s base.”
Vander Plaats also shared this graph comparing Roy and Stefanik’s records:
Steve Deace called Stefanik a “complete and total liberal.”
