Leftists were quick to pounce on Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-Linn) for her absence from a League of Women Voters forum held over the weekend.

This photo was posted by Indivisible NE Iowa on Twitter:

It turns out, that empty space right next to Sen. Liz Mathis (D-Linn) wasn’t reserved for Hinson at all. That spot belonged to…

Yes, that’s right. The empty chair circled by Indivisible NE Iowa wasn’t Hinson’s seat at all. It was that of Rep. Kirsten Running-Marquardt (D-Linn).

We will wait and see if Indivisible NE Iowa is nearly as concerned about Running-Marquardt’s absence as they were the “absence” of Hinson.

Democrat Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer (IA-01) is going to receive a serious challenge in the general election. Hinson is one of the Republicans running for the nomination, and is considered the “favorite” to win the GOP’s nomination.

Finkenauer has long been tagged as “Absent Abby” for a variety of reasons. It’s a tagline that stuck since Finkenauer moved from the Iowa House to the House of Representatives in D.C.

So, it makes sense that her friends would attempt to shift that Absent tag to Hinson, but this was a pretty epic fail at that attempt.
