Democrat State Sen. Rob Hogg has not shown up for the legislative session yet in Des Moines. Hogg has instead been busy tweeting about COVID-19 relentlessly.
In fact, since the legislative session started on Jan. 11, Hogg has tweeted 192 times.
At least by my count. I’ll be honest, after a while it was hard to keep track.
We fully expect Sen. Hogg to hit the 200-mark early Wednesday, likely before Joe Biden is inaugurated.
The session is about 110 days. Sen. Hogg is being paid $25,000. So far, there have been about a half dozen legislative days.
For simplicity’s sake, let’s say legislators are paid $227 per day during session. If Hogg has missed six days already, that means he’s “earned” about $1,362 so far.
Or, to put it into working terms for Sen. Hogg, he’s been paid $7.09 per tweet he’s written since the legislative session started.
That’s not bad.
And that’s not figuring in whether or not he is collecting his per diem of $169. If it’s been six days, that adds another $1,014.
Now we’re talking $12.37 per tweet.
By the end of Biden’s term, $12.37 will probably buy almost three gallons of gas. That is if the author of America’s Climate Century uses gas.
