Ordinary people are fighting back in the War on Parents, and winning.

A bank withdrew its support for the Boise gay pride festival after a backlash against the festival’s planned drag show for minors.  A school district in Texas rejected transgender sports, pronoun requirements, and LGBT instruction in classrooms.  The El Paso school board fired a teacher who told students not to judge pedophiles.  The largest school district in Utah pulled ‘Gender Queer’ and 50 other inappropriate books from its library after parents complained.  Parental complaints also scuttled plans to put a Planned Parenthood facility inside a Los Angeles high school.  A school board in Pennsylvania paid $300,000 to settle legal claims by parents who were cut off from speaking at school board meetings in opposition to school board policies.  Serves the authoritarians right.

And we have not yet begun to fight.

One weapon of choice is the lawsuit.  Nothing like service of a signed complaint to focus the mind.  The Arizona GOP sued the state Superintendent of Public Instruction who steered students to an online chat room to talk about sex.  California parents sued after ‘nonbinary’ male counselors allegedly slept in girls’ cabins at science camp.  Virginia parents sued a school board for adopting a policy hiding information from parents about their children with transgender issues.  Another suit in Virginia argues a school board engaged in the moral corruption of children by adopting radical transgender policies.  A suit in Rhode Island alleges schools violated the state’s open meetings law when the schools delegated policy discussions to outside groups which held secret meetings on antiracism and hiring practices.  And Tennessee parents sued a school district for ignoring the state’s law banning CRT instruction.

Beyond the courtroom, a college professor recommends parents write letters en masse to colleges saying they will not pay to send their children to schools that force the use of preferred pronouns, discriminate against religious beliefs, or indoctrinate students in the classroom.  Hit’em where it hurts: enrollment.  [Conservative Teachers of America Facebook post]  Warn teachers you will go after their state teaching license. [Id.]  Read pornographic material from school library books at school board meetings.  That causes an uproar.  Lobby for a law like Virginia passed this year requiring parental notification when sexually explicit material will be used in the classroom.  While you’re doing all of the above, organize to vote the bums out, it can be done.

I’ve just scratched the surface of what’s being done and what’s possible to fight back in the War on Parents.  But if I haven’t inspired you to action, then I’ve failed.  Spend the time, throw money into the fight, or let the groomers and the authoritarian Left take over.  It’s up to you.
