With one week in the books at our beloved State Capitol, The Iowa Standard wanted to highlight some of the “interesting” bills that were filed during Week 1. Among them, Senate Study Bill 3035 sponsored by State Sen. Jason Schultz as chair of the Commerce Committee.
The bill excludes from required application for and receipt of a certificate of need a new institutional health service or changed institutional health service that either will be developed or offered within a county in which a hospital requires immunization against COVID-19 by the hospital’s employees as a condition of employment, or will be developed or offered in or through an institutional health facility, health maintenance organization, health care provider or group of health care providers that does not require immunization against COVID-19 by its employees as a condition of employment.

The Iowa Health Care Association and UnityPoint Health have both registered as “undecided.”
