In March, the Biden Administration finalized a rule empowering nine federal agencies to discriminate against religious organizations and make it more difficult for them to partner with the federal government. The rule levies overbearing regulations on religious organizations and forces many faith-based charities to choose between receiving federal funds and maintaining their core beliefs.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and colleagues introduced a joint resolution of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act to overturn President Biden’s discriminatory rule and protect religious liberties.

  • “Faith-based charities have long been essential partners to the federal government, providing crucial ‘boots on the ground’ support in many initiatives. The Biden Administration’s rule threatens to sideline these charities and force a radical social agenda on them.”  – Senator Rubio

Joining Rubio were U.S. Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Rick Scott (R-FL), Katie Britt (R-AL), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), and Josh Hawley (R-MO).

  • “The Biden administration is continuing its attacks on law-abiding citizens exercising their deeply held religious beliefs. Congress must act to ensure faith-based organizations are protected from government overreach.” – Senator Cotton
  • “The Biden Administration has repeatedly targeted faith-based organizations in an attempt to have them ‘fall in line’ behind his far-Left agenda. The ‘Partnerships with Faith-Based and Neighborhood Organizations’ rule poses a threat by withholding federal funding from charities that don’t comply with the Administration’s extremist ideologies. I am proud to stand alongside Senator Rubio in defending these faith-based organizations that play vital roles in serving our communities and supporting some of our most vulnerable populations.” – Senator Marshall
  • “The Biden administration will stop at nothing to force its woke agenda and political preferences on the American people, especially targeting people of faith. I’m grateful for the incredible work faith-based charities do in Florida and across the nation to support our communities when they need it the most. I won’t allow Joe Biden to threaten them with rules that force them to choose between helping others and staying true to their beliefs.” – Senator Scott
  • “The Biden Administration has consistently undermined religious liberty and pushed an extreme partisan agenda over the foundational rights and core interests of hardworking Americans. I am proud to defend faith-based organizations and fight back against President Biden’s continued overreach.” – Senator Britt
  • “The Biden administration’s unrelenting attacks on faith-based organizations are unfounded, unwarranted, and offensive.  These organizations are often pillars of our communities in offering services, guidance, and support, and we must do all that we can to ensure they can continue their transformative work.”” – Senator Hyde-Smith
