Bill Schafer announced a number of endorsements on Tuesday. Schafer is running for the Republican nomination in U.S. House District 3.
“It is time to return governance to ‘We The People,'” Schafer said. “I want to be that option.”
Schafer called his campaign a “true grassroots campaign” with volunteers in all 16 counties.
“My opponent and his team speak of having the backing of the Republican Party,” Schafer said. “What is interesting is the lack of interest the Iowa politicians, the Republican Party and my opponent have in the opinion of ‘We The People’ that make up the 16 counties in Iowa’s District 3.”
The co-chair for Angel Families, Michelle Root, endorsed Schafer.
“From the moment I met Bill Schafer I knew he was the person I would endorse and advise my friends and family to do the same,” Root said. “His passion to do what is right for Iowa and District 3 is something honestly I haven’t seen in many of our politicians. He is going to tell you the truth and not just what he thinks you want to hear. I appreciate that. Please vote for him in the primary on June 2, 2020.”
Schafer was also endorsed by Combat Veterans for Congress PAC.
He was endorsed by the following U.S. Army generals he served with during his military career:
- Shawn Reger, Brigadier General, United States Army National Guard (Retired)
- Mark Toplikar, Brigadier General, United States Army National Guard (Retired)
- Charles Whittington, Major General, United States Army National Guard (Retired)
- Michael Tucker, Lieutenant General, United States Army (Retired)
- Mick Bednarek, Lieutenant General, United States Army (Retired)
“Bill Schafer is one of the hardest working professionals I have had the honor to work with in my 44 years of active service to the Army,” said Lt. General Michael S. Tucker (retired, U.S. Army). “His integrity and character are beyond reproach and I will always appreciate his selfless service to the Army and our Nation.”
“I’ve known Bill Schafer for well over a decade,” said Lt. General Mick Bednarek (retired, U.S. Army). “There is no finer Leader, dedicated professional, or consummate civil servant anywhere. He leaves no stone unturned to ensure our most difficult challenges have a solution or realistic timeline to solve. Bill will get the job done.”
“Bill has the proven leadership…the unique ability to weigh complex issues carefully before making the smart decision and the right decision,” said Major General Charles Whittington (U.S. Army National Guard). “I’ve witnessed Bill unhesitatingly wade into difficult situations, unify diverse groups, and find solutions to complex problems…Bill gets results — Bill’s track record is impeccable, and it’s why I know he will be a strong advocate when it comes to fighting for Iowa’s working families.”
