A new Rasmussen Reports national phone and online survey showed just 42 percent of likely U.S. voters are at least somewhat confident in the ability of the federal government to protect against future attacks like the attack that shut down the Colonial pipeline.
Fifteen percent are very confident while 29 percent are not very confident. Twenty-five percent are not at all confident.
Forty-seven percent of voters said they have experienced gasoline shortages or higher gas prices since the May 7 malware attack, which forced the Colonial Pipeline to shut down.
Those who support President Joe Biden have the most confidence that the government can protect against future attacks. Of voters who strongly approve of Biden’s job performance, 84 percent are at least somewhat confident the government can protect against similar attacks in the future. Voters who strongly disapprove of Biden’s job performance hold a much different view. Just nine percent of them are at least somewhat confident the government can protect against attacks.
