The Iowa Standard sent out a legislative candidate survey to those running in contested races. Jake Heard is running as the Libertarian candidate in Iowa House District 44. Larry McBurney is running as a Democrat. There is no Republican candidate.
Here are Jake Heard’s answers:
*Do you support providing liability immunity for pesticides? No
*At what point of a pregnancy, if any, should abortion be prohibited? Heartbeat
*Should Iowa reform the governor’s emergency powers? Yes, dramatically
*Are you supportive of efforts at the state level to crack down on illegal immigration? Not really. Iowa can’t do much about illegal immigrants without cooperation with the feds. And it’s a problem that requires a federal solution.

*Would you support an effort to reform eminent domain laws in Iowa as it relates to private, for-profit projects such as the carbon capture pipeline? Yes. Prohibit it outright and then pass a constitutional amendment that prohibits Private property being given to another private entity throwing a domain for profit
*Do you support “public dollars” (food stamps) being used at private grocery stores? Yes
*Do you support “public dollars” (Medicaid) being used at private hospitals? Yes
*Do you support “public dollars” (Iowa Tuition Grant) being used at private colleges? Yes
*Do you support “public dollars” (Education Savings Accounts) being used at private schools? Yes
*Should children be prohibited from attending drag queen shows? Yes, unless their parent takes them
*Do you support prohibiting “minor attraction” from being considered a sexual orientation in Iowa law? Yes. They are pedophiles.
*Do you support allowing kids to undergo sex change treatments and surgeries? Nope. If you can’t get a tattoo, you can’t get any sex change
*Do you support laws that prohibit people assigned male at birth from playing in women’s sports? Yes.
*Do you support books that VISUALLY DEPICT or DESCRIBE the following activities:
Any sexual contact between two or more persons by any of the following:
1. Penetration of the penis into the vagina or anus.
2. Contact between the mouth and genitalia or mouth and anus or by contact between the genitalia of one person and the genitalia or anus of another person.
3. Contact between the finger, hand, or other body part of one person and the
genitalia or anus of another person, except in the course of examination
or treatment by a person licensed pursuant to chapter 148, 148C, 151 or 152.
4. Ejaculation onto the person of another.
5. By use of artificial sexual organs or substitutes therefore in contact with the genitalia or anus.
6. The touching of a person’s own genitals or anus with a finger, hand, or
artificial sexual organ or other similar device at the direction of another person.
Being available to children without parental consent in school libraries? No
Being available to children without parental consent in public libraries? I would want the public library to have these books available because it’s not a school setting. It is incumbent upon the parents to know what their children are looking at at the library and checking out from the library.
