American health experts are likely to recommend COVID-19 vaccine boosters for all Americans eight months after they received their second dose of the shot.

It is expected to be made official in an announcement as soon as this week, with those boosters being administered widely once the FDA formally approves the injections.

Two people familiar with the subject talked to the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity, saying the goal is to ensure lasting protection against the coronavirus as the delta variant spreads.
