On Friday, President Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services released a new rule interpreting the prohibition on sex discrimination under Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act to include “gender identity.”
In response, Terry Schilling, president of American Principles Project (APP), released the following statement slamming the move:
“Just days after the Biden administration gutted protections for women and girls in Title IX, they have now moved to inject radical gender ideology into hospitals and medical centers nationwide.
“Make no mistake: this rule will have extreme consequences for the entire country. Healthcare providers will be forced to provide sex-change drugs and surgeries to all comers, including minors, or be forced out of business. Insurers will be compelled to cover these practices. And individual doctors, nurses, and other practitioners will be pressured to facilitate sex changes or else risk career-ending lawsuits, even if it goes against their conscience and best medical judgment.
“Not only is this rule a blatant invasion of politics into medicine, but it also represents the privileging of an insane ideology over science and biology. Growing evidence shows that the predatory transgender industry is destroying the lives of countless individuals, including children, and yet Biden and far-left Democrats continue to encourage this egregious malpractice, even as many European countries are rapidly abandoning it.
“Democrats must be made to pay a political price for these horrifying policies. APP plans to ensure this issue is at the top of voters’ minds when they head to the polls later this year. And we urge Republicans to do all in their power to fight this extremism and to highlight it on the campaign trail.”
