President Joe Biden announced on Sunday he signed a pardon for his son, Hunter Biden, even though he declared he wouldn’t interfere with the Department of Justice’s decision-making.

“I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted,” Biden said. “Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form. Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.”

Biden said the charges against Hunter came only after his “political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election.”

Biden then claimed that “no reasonable person” looking at the facts of the cases could conclude anything other than Hunter is being singled out for being President Biden’s son.

“And that is wrong,” Biden said.

In closing, President Biden said his opponents have tried to “break” Hunter and in trying to break Hunter, they have tried to break President Biden.

“And there’s no reason to believe it will stop here,” he said. “Enough is enough.”

Biden said that while he believes in the justice system, he believes “raw politics” has infected the process and led to what he deemed a “miscarriage of justice.”

The pardon is “full and unconditional” for crimes against America Hutner Biden “has committed or may have committed or taken part in” from Jan. 1, 2014-Dec. 1, 2024. While it includes current cases, it is not limited to the current cases.
