The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America slammed the Biden-Harris administration after the Department of Justice announced lawsuits against two pro-life advocacy groups accused of violating the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. Citizens for a Pro-Life Society and Red Rose Rescue strongly pushed back on the DOJ’s characterization of their activism at abortion facilities as anything but peaceful, including accusations that they block, grab or seek to intimidate anyone.
In a separate case, pro-life advocate Heather Idoni was sentenced today to two years in prison despite her serious health issues. Idoni has suffered a stroke as well as falling ill from Covid-19 while in jail awaiting sentencing and allegedly has been denied medicine for diabetes and a heart condition. Eight pro-life advocates have been sentenced to between 27 months and nearly five years in prison, and one is scheduled to be sentenced later this month.
Members of Congress led by Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) sent a letter to the U.S. Marshals Service and the Federal Bureau of Prisons seeking answers about allegations that some of the pro-life prisoners have been denied necessary medical care.
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser made the following statement:
“Under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris it is open season on peaceful pro-life advocacy in America. At least 90 attacks on pregnancy centers and pro-life groups have been documented since May 2022. FBI Director Chris Wray himself admitted the overwhelming majority of violent threats related to abortion since Dobbs target pro-life advocates. So where are the prosecutions? Where’s the investigation of abortionist Cesare Santangelo for the brutal deaths of the D.C. Five – the five fully developed babies found in a box headed for the incinerator, bearing evidence of possible federal abortion crimes? Instead, the Biden-Harris DOJ has been busy throwing pro-life grandparents, decorated veterans and Soviet concentration camp survivors in jail for the ‘crime’ of peacefully protesting to save innocent lives.
“We thank our congressional allies, especially Reps. Chris Smith, Chip Roy and Andy Biggs, for their commitment to exposing potential federal abortion crimes involving the D.C. Five and for working to ensure the imprisoned pro-life advocates are treated humanely. We must stand up to Biden’s extremism and criminalization of peaceful protest. It’s time to repeal the FACE Act which is being blatantly twisted to persecute and imprison pro-life Americans.”
