Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents arrested a Honduran national who was previously convicted of homicide in Miami. In addition, 24 arrests were made in conjunction with the Texas Department of Public Safety troopers (DPS) in two other events.

On Sept. 27, McAllen Border Patrol Station agents apprehended a group of six migrants south of Mission. Record checks on a Honduran national, revealed he was convicted in Miami for homicide and sentenced to 18 months incarceration and three years’ probation. He was subsequently removed from the United States.

Later that morning, DPS requested assistance from the Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station with a vehicle bailout near Rio Grande City. Agents responded to the location where several subjects fled from the DPS vehicle stop and apprehended five people. The driver was identified and taken into custody by DPS to be charged with evading arrest and smuggling of persons. Information obtained at the incident, led Border Patrol agents, Rio Grande City Police officers, and DPS troopers to a suspected migrant stash house in Rio Grande City. An additional seven migrants were apprehended at the location, but no principal was identified.

A few hours later, DPS requested assistance from Weslaco Border Patrol Station at a migrant stash house location in Pharr. Agents responded and apprehended 12 migrants determined to be illegally in the United States. They were from Mexico, Central America, Peru, and Ecuador. DPS took custody of one person to be charged with smuggling/caretaker of the stash house.

This fiscal year, Border Patrol agents around the nation have arrested 325 gang members, of those, more than 150 gang members were arrested in the RGV. Additionally, agents have encountered more than 440 migrant stash houses in the RGV.

All subjects were processed accordingly.
