U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested two undocumented individuals in two separate incidents with prior convictions for a sexual offense early Wednesday morning.

The first incident occurred at about 1 a.m., when agents encountered an undocumented individual after illegally entering the United States in the city of Calexico. The second incident occurred at about 2 a.m. when agents encountered another undocumented individual who illegally entered the U.S. through the Jacumba Wilderness region near Ocotillo.

In both incidents, agents arrested the individuals and transported them to the El Centro Sector Processing Center.

Records checks revealed that both individuals were previously convicted for a sex crime and previously removed by an Immigration Judge.

In fiscal year 2021, which began Oct. 1, 2020, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents arrested and/or removed 35 individuals either convicted or wanted on sexual offense charges.
