Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended two sex offenders as they were attempting to enter the U.S. illegally near Laredo.

The first apprehension occurred during the late morning of June 20, when agents assigned to Laredo West Station apprehended a group of 24 undocumented individuals inside a ranch northwest of the city.  One undocumented individual was identified as Isidro Efrain Gallardo-Rangel, a 34-year-old Mexican national.  Record checks revealed that Gallardo-Rangel is a registered sex offender with an extensive criminal history and a conviction for Indecency with a Child – Felony 2nd Degree in 2018 in Dallas, Texas.

The second apprehension occurred later that evening when agents from Laredo North Station apprehended a group of six individuals attempting to board a train at Port Laredo.  Included in the group was a 33-year-old Mexican national named Oscar Murretla-Gonzalez.  Record checks revealed that Murretla-Gonzalez was convicted in Salinas, California for Lewd or Lascivious Acts with a child under 14 years of age and sentenced to one year incarceration and three years to serve on probation.

Both will be prosecuted for their immigration violations and remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal Service.

These arrests continue to highlight the dangers that illegal immigration pose to our country.  Laredo Sector agents continue to arrest undocumented individuals who have been previously convicted for sexual misconduct.  Dangerous criminals such as these endanger our communities and shows a lack of regard for our country’s laws.  The agents of the Laredo Sector are committed to their duties of protecting the American people and safeguarding our borders.
