U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass Station arrested a previously convicted sex offender, March 17.

“The agents of Del Rio Sector work around the clock to ensure our communities are safeguarded against violent criminals,” said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Doyle E. Amidon, Jr.  “Thanks to the tireless dedication of our agents, another predator has been prevented from potentially targeting our community.”

Border Patrol agents of the Eagle Pass Station, conducting line watch operations, encountered and arrested a 33-year-old male citizen of Mexico. During processing, records checks revealed that he had previously been charged and convicted for Indecency with a Child Sexual Conduct in Austin in 2017. The individual was subsequently removed from the United States in 2019.

He is now facing charges of 8 USC § 1326 – re-entry after deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years of incarceration.

All individuals apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks utilizing a multitude of databases including the use of biometrics to ensure those with criminal history are positively identified regardless of their immigration status.
