Democrat congressional candidate Sarah Corkery took aim at laws protecting unborn babies on Tuesday as well as expanding parental choice in education during her appearance at the Des Moines Register Soapbox.

Corkery told Iowa State Fair attendees that it isn’t “parent choice” for her if private schools are not required to accommodate kids with disabilities. She also blasted Education Savings Accounts, claiming the policy is “Christianizing” the next generation.

“So, we know what’s happening,” she said. “We are Christianizing the next generation and it’s not right.”

Corkery’s father is a retired Lutheran minister. She also reportedly said she wants to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law.

Corkery is challenging Republican Congresswoman Ashley Hinson.
