While likely U.S. voters are divided over the FBI’s authorization to use “deadly force” during the raid on President Donald J. Trump’s home in August of 2022, Democrats overwhelmingly support it.

Forty-four percent of likely voters approved of the DOJ authorizing use of deadly force in the raid. Forty-nine percent disapprove.

However, 66 percent of Democrats said they approve of the authorization of deadly force, including 47 percent who said they strongly approve such approval. Seventy-one percent of Republicans and 51 percent of unaffiliated voters disapprove.

For some reason, the FBI’s favorability has jumped eight points since June of 2023 when just 44 percent of likely voters viewed the agency favorably. Today, 52 percent said they view the FBI favorably.

Despite that, 48 percent of voters agreed with the statement from Trump adviser Roger Stone:

“(There is) a group of politicized thugs at the top of the FBI who are using the FBI…as Joe Biden’s personal Gestapo.”

Much of the favorability for the FBI comes from Democrats. Seventy-two percent of Democrats view the FBI at least somewhat favorably. Just 38 percent of Republicans and 46 percent of unaffiliated voters agree.
