On the third anniversary of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), a combat veteran, released the following statement.

“The Biden-Harris Afghanistan withdrawal was the spark that lit the world on fire – and most certainly the catalyst for the chaos in the Middle East today,” Ernst said. “The catastrophic impact of their decision, coupled with numerous other security failures by this administration, continues to be felt at home and around the globe.

“Russia was emboldened to start the first ground war in Europe since World War II, Iran-backed Hamas terrorists were empowered to slaughter the most Jews in a single day since the Holocaust, and China has been allowed to increase its aggression in the Indo-Pacific and here at home.

“Not only do America’s foes no longer fear us, but our friends do not trust us. For the safety and security of our homeland, we must reverse that.

“The only way to restore peace and stability is to end Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ failed strategy of appeasement and return strength to the White House,” Ernst concluded.
