U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) released the following statement after Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) was selected to deliver the Republican Address to the Nation following the Joint Session of Congress next Wednesday, April 28, 2021:

“In just his first 100 days in office, President Biden has shown his true colors by completely abandoning bipartisanship and taking a sharp Left turn—one that solely prioritizes his radical base and Democratic special interests over the American people. It’s clear there are two very distinct paths for the future of this country: President Biden’s path, appeasing the far-Left and seeking to fundamentally change our way of life; or the path of opportunity and freedom, of growth and prosperity, and of American exceptionalism that Senator Tim Scott and our fellow Republicans stand for. Senator Tim Scott is a perfect voice to deliver that vision to the American people.

“In 2015, I was humbled and honored to give the Republican response to President Obama’s State of the Union address. I brought the voice of everyday Iowans—folks like me who grew up on a farm and had only one good pair of shoes—to the entire country. Senator Tim Scott will yet again give a voice to these hardworking men and women who still believe in and love America and what she stands for.”
