Conservative Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz offered an amendment to prohibit funds from being used for the purchase of property for a new FBI headquarters in the United States House of Representatives. The amendment failed, 273-145.

Just 70 Republicans voted the amendment down, joining all 203 Democrats who voted on the amendment. An incredible amount of Republicans — 145 — voted in favor of the amendment, but ZERO of them call Iowa home.

Those 70 Republicans, including moderate Congressmen Randy Feenstra and Zach Nunn and Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, rewarded the weaponized FBI with a new $300 million headquarter, which will be larger the Pentagon, according to supporters of the amendment.

Hinson’s office said that assertion is not true.

“There is not a single dollar of funding for a new FBI headquarters in the FSGG appropriations bill, the underlying legislation that was debated in the House this week. She did not vote to fund the new FBI headquarters – that is inaccurate,” her office said in a statement.

Here is a story about the issue from The Gateway Pundit. Also, according to Newsweek the funds for the new headquarters were provided in the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill.

Eight Republicans, including liberal Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, did not vote.
