Last week Iowa’s congressional delegation hosted various guests for the State of the Union speech delivered by President Joe Biden.

While Congresswoman Ashley Hinson had Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley as her guest, and Congressman Zach Nunn had Deric and Kathy Kidd — parents of Sebastian who died from fentanyl poisoning in 2021 — as his guests, Fourth District Congressman Randy Feenstra invited a campaign donor who lives in South Dakota to join him as his guest.

Feenstra announced Scott Schneidermann as his guest in a press release last week. Schneidermann is President and CEO of Frontier Bank and Frontier Insurance and Realty in Rock Rapids, Iowa.

Feenstra said Schneidermann is an “unwavering advocate of our community banks in Iowa.”

Schneidermann contributed $4,800 to Feenstra’s campaign in 2023. He lists a South Dakota address on his FEC filings. The Lyon County Auditor’s office confirmed that Schneidermann hasn’t voted in an Iowa election since 2018 and is not a registered voter in Lyon County.

U.S. Senator Joni Ernst invited Hagit Chen, whose son Itay Chen was thought to be being held hostage by Iran-backed Hamas since the Oct. 7 attack in Israel. The IDF confirmed Chen’s death earlier this week.

In 2023, Feenstra hosted Chad Tentinger as his guest at the State of the Union. Tentinger donated $3,300 in March of 2023 and $2,500 more on Aug. 31, 2023.
