Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds joined Iowa Press last weekend for a discussion on a variety of topics. One topic was the Canadian Freedom Convoy.
Reynolds was asked about the trucks blocking the border between America and Canada.
“I just think people are so frustrated,” Reynolds said. “They’ve just had it and they feel their freedoms and liberties are being infringed upon. And we’re seeing that here in the United States.”
Reynolds said President Joe Biden’s poll numbers are “tanking” and Democrat governors are finally realizing where Americans are today on COVID restrictions.
“I don’t think that justifies the means, but it’s the fact that they’ve had it and you have a President or a Prime Minister that is not listening to the people,” she said. “He’s probably going to see the same thing that President Biden and the Democrats are experiencing right now.”
Reynolds said seven Democrat governors in the last few days had removed mask mandates not just in public, but also in schools.
“And it’s not because the science has changed,” she said. “It’s because the polling is tanking. People have had it. Enough is enough. And they’re standing up, and they’re speaking out because I think they feel that if they don’t, what is next.”
Reynolds said America was founded on liberty, freedom and limited government.
“It’s gotten way out of hand over the last year,” she said. “I think that’s going to be reflected in this next election.”
Reynolds was asked specifically if a protest would happen in Iowa similar to what is happening in Canada if that would be illegal due to a law passed in 2021.
“The means don’t justify the end, but I’m telling you it is a reflection of where people are at today,” she said.
