Readers of The Iowa Standard have reached out in the past few days asking why Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds is one of 15 GOP governors in the country asking for more refugee resettlement in their red state.

The letter from Reynolds to Secretary Michael Pompeo is very short.

“This letter is in reference to Executive Order 13888, “On Enhancing State and Local Involvement in Resettlement.

“As Governor of Iowa, I consent to initial refugee resettlement in Iowa per the terms of the Executive Order.”

The Iowa Standard reached out to Reynolds’ office for additional comments. When we receive more information, we will pass it along.
