Wednesday, the Kim Reynolds for Iowa Committee announced that it has raised over $1.3 million in 2019 and has nearly $900,000 cash-on-hand. This fundraising haul breaks the record for total contributions an Iowa Governor has received the year following a gubernatorial election.
“It’s an opportunity of a lifetime to serve and give back to a state that’s given so much to my family and me,” said Gov. Reynolds. “With low unemployment and a fiscally responsible budget, Iowa Republicans continue to lead the charge with bold ideas to Keep Iowa Moving, and we’re just getting started. Because of generous supporters in our communities large and small, urban and rural, we will push forward and make Iowa even better than it is today.”
In 2018, Governor Reynolds became the first elected female governor in Iowa history. This year’s fundraising haul highlights the Governor’s deep level of support from every corner of the state.
The final report will be filed with the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board by January 21st. 95% of the total contributions are from Iowans. The previous record was set by Chet Culver with a total of $1,132,375.00 raised between January 1 – December 31, 2007.
