Name: Jesse Green, Republican

Office/District: State Senate District 24

Hometown: Harcourt

Profession: Farmer / Educator

Why running for office: “I really believe that the Lord has shaped me for this through my life experiences. When I look at this district and look at how the district is laid out, I believe that I can represent the most people. I’m at a time in my life that I can give 110 percent to this without any distractions.

“When it comes to policy, I believe that because of my faith and because of my background, I will be a bold, truthful, honest voice that I think the Republican Party needs at this point in Iowa to pull in spending and keep a closer eye on our tax increases, but most importantly, I see this as an opportunity to give back to central Iowa. I’ve loved living here. I’ve lived here my whole life and whenever I go on vacation for example, after three days I can’t wait to come back home. My whole life I’ve been looking for opportunities to give back to things that have brought me so much happiness and joy — whether that’s through the farm, my school, through the Dayton Rodeo — now I believe this is an opportunity to truly give back to central Iowa.”
