There is a strong likelihood that if Democrats have their way, they will do away with the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer funding of abortion through the Medicaid program.

Congresswoman-elect Ashley Hinson, representing Iowa’s First Congressional District, said she agrees with Nikki Haley, who listed the issue as another reason Republicans must win the Georgia Senate races.

“Taxpayer dollars should never fund abortions,” Hinson tweeted. “End of story.”

Hinson voted in favor of a 24-hour waiting period prior to an abortion while serving in the Iowa House. She also voted for the Heartbeat Bill as well as a bill that would prohibit abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

She also voted for a bill that prohibited funds appropriated to the medical assistance program from being used for abortions.
