Hunter Biden bragged on a recording with an acquaintance that he would smoke crack with late D.C. mayor Marion Barry at a Georgetown bar when he was a student.
Biden’s admission is on an audio recording that was previously released to other media and sent to The Iowa Standard by an individual who said he sent Hunter Biden’s laptop contents to Sen. Chuck Grassley. That individual said he has heard nothing in return from Senate Judiciary Committee lawyers.
The call was a little weird. Hunter and his friend speculated whether Martin Luther King took cocaine.
“See, you are such a racist, I swear to god,” Hunter said. “No he didn’t, Jesus Christ.”
Hunter’s friend said “that mayor from D.C. did.”
“You know what, I actually smoked crack with Marion Barry, I swear to f***ing god,” Hunter said. “That was in Georgetown. And he used to go to a place right next to [local bar] The Guards. And I was a sophomore I guess, I was a junior when that happened. But he used to come there and drink like late, late. And I would be there, and he would go to the bathroom.”
That admission creates questions for Hunter’s assertion in his memoir that an arrest for cocaine possession at 18 years old “scared him straight” until he finished college.
Barry, for his part, was caught smoking crack on camera in January of 1990 and did six months in a federal prison. He was elected to DC’s council in 1992 and again as mayor in 1994.
The Iowa Standard asked the individual who sent Grassley the Hunter Biden laptop if he has heard from Grassley or the Senate Judiciary lawyers yet.
“Not a thing,” he replied. “I guarantee they know how to reach me.”
