On Wednesday, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb signed Senate Bill 480, banning the prescription to minors of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries for the purpose of attempting to change their sex. Indiana is the 15th state to act to ban child sex changes in some capacity.

Holcomb is also the third Republican governor to sign a law banning sex changes for minors after having previously vetoed a bill to protect women’s sports.

In response, Terry Schilling, president of American Principles Project (APP), released the following statement cheering the news:

“Momentum continues to build for protecting children from dangerous, experimental sex-change procedures.

“It’s unfortunate, of course, that such measures are even necessary. While children with gender dysphoria deserve true care and compassion, the transgender industry has instead tossed aside the Hippocratic Oath in favor of pushing these kids into becoming permanent medical patients. However, no amount of sterilizing drugs or mutilating surgeries will ever fulfill the promise of allowing them to become the opposite sex. This is horrific medical malpractice, and it ought to be penalized as such.

“We are grateful to Gov. Holcomb and Indiana lawmakers for taking action to defend these vulnerable children and their families. It is especially notable that the governor chose to sign this bill given his veto last year of legislation to protect women’s sports. We hope this is a sign that he now sees the destructive impact of gender ideology on our society and that he will join with the many other governors around the country who are fighting back.”
