Central Iowa media reports that Iowa’s solicitor general, a man called Jeffrey Thompson, was arrested late Friday night following an incident at Blazing Saddle. The location proclaims itself to be Iowa’s oldest LGBTQ+ space.

Thompson was charged with assault after he was accused of taking multiple swings with a closed fist at a bouncer.

The Des Moines Register reports it contacted the Iowa Attorney General’s Office as Thompson is a member of the office and represents the state’s interest in legal cases. According to Lynn Hicks, chief of staff for Iowa AG Tom Miller, Thompson informed Miller of the arrest and continues in his duties for the office.

“Jeff has done incredible work for our office and in service to the state,” Hicks said in an email to the Register. “This is a private matter that Jeff will have to address.”
