I applaud the 20 brave people standing against group think and the DC swamp by refusing to cast a vote for a speaker of the house who has no core principles. We rail against the weak ineffective body of Congress and yet some wring their hands in fear when we have a debate on deciding who should be the next speaker of the house. Does anyone think that voting for the status quo will change anything in the federal government? Unless we quit fearing that if we do not go along with the group think and send these same progressive Republicans to Washington DC to rule over us, we will be ruled by feckless leaders that care more about being reelected instead of their constituents. Will We the People demand better leadership or will we sit in our comfortable simmering pot and follow these fiddlers on the roof over the cliff into tyrannical rule. A few brave men stood during the fight for Independence. It seems Republicans have become summer soldiers. We should heed these words by Thomas Paine.. These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.
Our federal government system is broken and corrupt and if we are to retain our Liberty and the Constitution we must Appeal to Heaven and focus on our state legislators to get them to use their power to interpose against this federal tyranny and make sure we can be called the Free State of Iowa.
