Nick Saban, five-time national champion of Alabama football, retired this week at the age of 75.  Bill Belichick also retired with six Super Bowl titles at the age of 71. Joe Biden is 81. Nick and Bill still have the mental capacity to plot strategy at the highest level of competition. Joe Biden can’t find his way off the stage. Yea, Biden is too old for the job, but I want to remind you Chuck Grassley is 90. I was in high school when Grassley went to DC and the debt was less than $472 billion. I’m almost 67 now and the debt is $34 trillion.   Strom Thurmond, also a Republican, was 100 years old when he retired from the Senate and lived at Walter Reed Hospital for two years. Why is it football coaches understand the effects of age but politicians don’t?

They also forget who they work for. Voters like you and me, not lobbyist and special interests loaded with campaign cash. I bring up Joni Ernst’s vote on the {Dis}Respect for Marriage Act. Her vote with Democrats made it so that if California recognizes marriage between a man and a Holstein cow, Iowa has to also recognize it. Sixteen Iowa county GOP central committees voted to censure her, and I’m proud to say Hancock was one of them.  Even after being censured, she was a special guest at a closed-to-the-press LGBTQ GOP event. That’s a real “in your face” move. If gun control groups claim massive victory for a bill you voted for, are you really pro-Second Amendment? $750 million was in that bill for red flag laws that she voted yea. The debt was $17 trillion her first year, so she has had a hand in doubling it.

While I think Governor Kim Reynolds has done a great job on many issues in Iowa, I am concerned about the whole eminent domain and pipelines. Gov. Reynolds is way too cozy with Bruce Rastetter. But with Bruce having given Kim $174,902 over the years, you pretty much own a governor. Two days ago, Bruce came out for the “undecided” Trump. In other words, a deal was struck.

That brings me to our current Fourth District representative — Randy Feenstra. While we have all heard that D.C. is a swamp, Des Moines is just a mini version. Just ask Jim Nelson when he ran for the Iowa House. While the D.C. crowd was running Steve King out of office, the former Speaker of the Iowa House and current lobbyist Chris Rants started a Super PAC to get Feenstra elected. Rants also got big money from Rastetter. If a picture is worth a thousand words nothing says it better than one on the front page of the Garner Leader. Out of six people, he is the only one wearing a mask, OUTSIDE.

I printed out a page on behalf of Kevin Virgil that I’m supporting to replace Feenstra and left it on your chairs. Trust me, an Army Ranger wouldn’t be wearing a mask outside.

If we can’t control our own party, we don’t deserve to be in charge of this nation.

  1. A clarion call has to be embraced for the working class to replace the political class as social influencers. (Terms have confusing usages but I think you know what I mean.)
