I got it, the president has the authority to order the US Flag lowered, maybe you’ve noticed it’s at Half Staff a lot.

There’s flag etiquette, flag code, tradition, history and basic knowledge that lowering our National Flag is a solemn event that symbolizes a nation in mourning.

School shootings, the shooting at Monterey Park, CA., the Orlando Night Club shooting, the Fort Hood shooting, hurricane victims, the assassination of a former Japan Prime Minister, the Fed X shooting, COVID deaths, the Atlanta shooting and many other events have resulted in lowering the flag.

Certainly, these are tragic events but we’re at a place where the flag is down so often that people don’t know why or maybe don’t care and it’s not consistent across all states.

Students and teachers sometimes don’t know if the flag at school is down or why.

The flag was lowered some places for 92 days in 2021, 25%, 1 day out of 4 and the trend continues.

Some say we should leave it down and raise it if we have a good day.

The left claims the right has politicized the American Flag, and approves of taking a knee for the National Anthem.

A New York Times article says ‘a Fourth of July Symbol of Unity may no longer unite’, it (our flag) is alienating to some.

Some illegal immigrants bring with them their own flag and some members of congress wear the Ukraine Flag lapel pin beside the US Flag lapel pin.

Looking back it appears some presidents are trying to break the record of the previous president for the number of flag lowerings while trying to break the record of raising the previous National Debt.
