Both former Vice President Mike Pence and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie expressed support for Rep. Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday.

Pence said that chaos is “never America’s friend” and “never a friend of American families that are struggling.”

“I’m deeply disappointed that a handful of Republicans would partner with all the Democrats in the House of Representatives to oust the Speaker of the House,” Pence said.

Pence said he expects there will be more votes on who will be elected Speaker before the end of the week and most Republicans will vote for McCarthy.

“None of this…is doing anything to solve the challenges that American families are facing in this economy,” Pence said.

Chris Christie said he stands with McCarthy.

“It’s a very tough job to be Speaker of the House with a five-vote margin,” he said. “And that’s what we were left with after the disastrous 2022 mid-term elections.”
