Democrat State Sen. Molly Donahue has a long history of voting against bills protecting innocent unborn life. In fact, her record is quite consistent.
She voted against a bill to protect unborn babies who have a detectable fetal heartbeat. Seh voted against a bill allowing Iowans to decide whether or not the state constitution provided a right to an abortion. She voted against a bill requiring a 24-hour waiting period before an unborn baby could be killed in an abortion.
In 2021, Donahue wrote a Facebook post claiming she isn’t “pro-abortion.” She even added that “no one” is pro-abortion. Instead, she said she believes every woman has the right to make the best decision for herself and her body.
Instead, Donahue said she is actually pro-life — but just pro-women’s lives. Ironically, Donahue wrote:
“Women’s rights are meant to protect ALL women, regardless of their situation!”
The question, of course, is what about unborn baby girls? What about those women?
The post was edited, copy and pasted. So odds are they were not Donahue’s original words. But she felt compelled to share the post and should answer the question.
If women’s rights are meant to protect “ALL” women — regardless of their situation — what about the rights of unborn baby girls?
In 2024, Donahue campaigned on women’s rights being “human rights.” And that “women’s rights” include “reproductive healthcare.”
Now, remembering back to 2021 when Donahue said nobody is “pro-abortion,” one has to wonder if abortion is healthcare, why would someone not be pro-healthcare?
Donahue then said no legislator, governor or any government official should be in the doctor’s office when making decisions.
Three years after saying nobody is “pro-abortion,” she said that abortion is “complicated” and “not a black-and-white issue.”
“Having children is one of the biggest financial decisions you will make in your lifetime, and should not be made lightly,” she wrote. “Just as having an abortion is not a decision that is made lightly.”
Unborn babies, according to Donahue’s voting record, don’t have rights worth protecting. Cats, though? Well, that’s a different story.
Donahue, who has refused to vote to protect innocent unborn human life, has once again introduced a bill to prohibit declawing cats.
The Humane Society refers to the ban as banning the “painful, non-theraputic declawing of cats.”
Now, the purpose of this piece isn’t to address declawing cats.
It is simply to point out that it’s too bad Donahue doesn’t have the same concern for unborn babies being killed via abortion as she does for cats being declawed.
