On Friday, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) spoke on the Senate floor, where he continued to call out big spenders in both parties in Washington for a $1.2 trillion spending bill that is expected to pass today. The bill is more than 1,000 pages, includes over 1,400 earmarks and was released at 2:32 am early Thursday. Dr. Paul also introduced a Motion to Refer With Instructions to the spending bill that instructs the Senate Committee on Appropriations to cut 5 percent from the bill. Amounts made available to the Department of Defense or for securing the international border of the U.S. are exempted from reductions.

Below are excerpts from Dr. Paul’s floor remarks:

“We are spending at such a rate that we add an average of a trillion dollars to the debt every 90 days. If that pace continues, instead of $1.5 trillion it could be up to $4 trillion in the next year.”

“Our nation’s greatest threat comes not from abroad but from within the halls of Congress, which, at every opportunity, looks for ways to ignore our spending problem and expedite our economic decline.”

“This reckless level of borrowing and spending is unsustainable. The ever-increasing heights of our debt mean a weak economy, high inflation, and confiscatory tax rates. In other words, today’s spending threatens tomorrow’s prosperity.

“We are approaching a predictable economic crisis in the U.S.

“In my time in the Senate, I have proposed spending freezes, balanced budgets, spending cuts, designed to get our nation back on a path.

“Today, instead of a balanced budget, I merely ask this that this bill be sent back to the Appropriations Committee and that they report to the full Senate about how to responsibly cut 5 percent from this bloated monstrosity. We wouldn’t eliminate anything but anything that you’re going to spend money on, is going to get 5 percent less.”

  1. Rand Paul pretends to hate the national debt, what a clown. Rand Paul stopped President Trump’s Obamacare Replacement in 2017 because the eye doc couldn’t stomach President Trump’s proposed age-based tax credit and larger tax-free HSAs, what a clown. Rand Paul and billionaire Warren Buffett don’t pay taxes on their health insurance but a poor single-parent Iowa mother employee must if her small employer doesn’t cover her child and she has to purchase Individual Insurance on the 0bamacare Exchange. If she is earning $65,000/year she earns too much for any Obamacare subsidies in 2024! She must buy an overpriced Obamacare HMO, with after tax dollars, that she can’t take her son to the MAYO Clinic, voted best hospital in the world by Newsweek, if he is dying of cancer.

The City of Ames is spending $30,000/year for a single-parent mom employee for Blue Cross Monopoly (BCM) and Trump’s low-cost Individual Insurance is $1,668/Year for a 30-year-old female and child in Ames with a 4/1/2024 Effective Date. Trump’s Age-based tax credits for a 30 year old is $3,000 and a child is $2,000 for a total credit of $5,000. Currently, the tax exclusion for the Ames city employees’ $30,000 premium is $12,000/year or $7,000 more! Just take the premium and multiply by 40% because The Federal Treasury loses Income AND Payroll Tax on employer premiums or $12,000.

Trump’s $5,000 age-based tax credit would pay 100% of her Trump Plan family’s $1,668 annual premium plus deposit the balance of $3,332 in her HSA at the bank. Now the employer, the City of Ames, has no insurance to buy so they can LOWER taxes! Republican Solutions Work!

I blame idiot Rand Paul for saving Obamacare in 2017, what a clown!
