On Tuesday, Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) called on the Biden Administration to send military planes to Israel to help get American citizens back home as swiftly as possible.
“In addition to ensuring Israel has every resource available to defend itself, we must move as rapidly as possible to get Americans home,” said Representative Lawler (NY-17). “At least 14 Americans have been killed and over a dozen more are missing as Hamas continues its murderous rampage, indiscriminately killing civilian men, women, children, and the elderly. My office has been in touch with constituents across New York’s 17th Congressional District who fear for the safety of loved ones – many of whom are American citizens and constituents.”
“Time is of the essence. The Biden Administration must ramp up its efforts to ensure the safety of Americans in Israel and use every tool in its tool chest,” continued Representative Lawler (NY-17). “With commercial flights unavailable, American citizens are trapped in harm’s way. That is why I am calling on the Biden Administration to send military plans at once to get these Americans home safe and to indemnify commercial airline carriers to get them flying back to Israel as quickly as possible.”
“My office is in constant communication with constituents who are stranded in Israel or have relatives who are, as well as with Administration officials,” concluded Representative Lawler (NY-17). “We will do everything we can to ensure the safe return of American citizens and implore the Administration to move as quickly as possible and to use every resource available.”
New York’s 17th Congressional District is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties. It has one of the largest Jewish populations in the country, many who are currently in Israel or who have relatives that are.
