State Rep. Skyler Wheeler (R-Orange City) announced he will seek a fourth term to the Iowa House and run for re-election in 2022. Wheeler plans to run in the new House District 3, which covers southern Sioux County and northern Plymouth County. Wheeler was first elected to the Iowa House in 2016 and has been a strong conservative voice in the lower chamber.
“I’d like to thank the great people of Sioux County for the honor they have given me to represent them these last five years,” Wheeler said. “I look forward to getting to know the voters of Le Mars, Akron and the rest of northern Plymouth County.”
Wheeler currently serves on the House Judiciary, Ways and Means, Local Government and Justice Systems Appropriations Budget Subcommittee. He is the Vice-Chair of the House Education Committee.
“Each year, Republicans in the House continue to push conservative legislation that will expand liberty and shrink government in our great state,” Wheeler said. “I’m proud to be one of those members, and a vocal one at that, pushing our conservative values and principles in Des Moines.”
“Even though we have accomplished a lot of great things these past few years, there is still more to do. We must continue our work to protect unborn babies, to eliminate the tax burden on hardworking Iowans and entrepreneurs, ensure every parent is empowered to make the best decisions they can for their child’s education and to expand liberty while shrinking government.”
Wheeler, 28, is a graduate of Northwestern College in Orange City where he lives with his wife Jess, his daughter Adalynn, and his son Stetson.
