The Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University released a survey that showed President Joe Biden’s supporters are less likely to hold a biblical worldview.
Go ahead, pick your jaw up off the floor before I continue…
In all, Biden’s base of supporters is 60 percent less likely to hold the biblical worldview than other Americans. And while 65 percent of Biden’s voters consider themselves Christian, many of their religious beliefs and policy positions are “at odds” with traditional biblical teaching.
Most of Biden’s voters surveyed described themselves a “spiritual but not religious.” Thirty percent believe the Bible is in the inspired word of God. Seventy-five percent reject the idea of absolute moral truth and 30 percent believe the Bible is true.
Rather, Biden voters are more likely to believe moral truth is up to each individual and there are no moral absolutes that apply to everyone, all the time. Seventy-five percent of Biden supporters hold that position compared to 67 percent of all American adults.
President Donald J. Trump won most of the votes cast by adults who usually attend Protestant churches (47 percent to Biden’s 33 percent). Biden received 45 percent of the votes among adults in the “don’ts” faith segment (don’t know if God exists, don’t believe God exists, don’t care if God exists). That group, according to the survey, provided 29 percent of the Biden vote.
Sixty percent of Biden’s base argues that “the Bible is ambiguous on the matter of abortion; it is possible to make compelling biblical arguments either for or against abortion.”
Biden voters are more likely than most Americans to prefer socialism to capitalism. They’re more likely to support policies that run counter to biblical teaching. They’re more likely to support allowing churches and all forms of worship to be restricted due to COVID; eliminating tax exemptions for churches; promoting alternative faiths in public school classrooms and curriculum; broader support for abortion and others.
Other beliefs highlighted by the survey:
*72 percent of Biden supporters believe that a person who is generally good, or does enough good things for others, will earn a place on Heaven.
*68 percent believe that The Holy Spirit is not a living entity but is a symbol of God’s presence, power or purity.
*63 percent do not believe that God is the all-powerful, all-knowing, perfect and just creator of the universe who rules that universe today.
Fifty-eight percent of his voters reject the notion that “the marriage of one man to one woman is God’s only acceptable plan for humanity, applicable to all cultures on earth.”
Catholic gave Biden a 44-40 margin of preference over Trump.
Muslims were four times more likely to support Biden than Trump.
Dr. George Barna, the study’s director, said:
“Many of the policies and programs proposed and being pursued by the Biden Administration require a foundation of predictable, consistent truth for successful implementation to occur. Unfortunately, if our government denies the core principles on which it was founded – which were originally derived from the Bible – in favor of an inconsistent patchwork of modern philosophical preferences, the result will be chaos, constant disputes, and widespread dissatisfaction.
“A strong and thriving society requires a stable foundation of truth on which to make just and appropriate decisions. The more the United States puts distance between itself and its moral and spiritual moorings, the less likely we are to have an effective vibrant government and a healthy and vibrant way of life.”
